Dwayne, a retired Winchester police officer, is another crucial source of support for Wayne. Both like to tell a story about when they both pulled over the same woman in their respective towns within 20 minutes. The woman complained to the Mt. Sterling Police Department that she was being harassed, but was ultimately embarrassed to discover that they were, in fact different officers.

Protestors occupied Hennepin Avenue in downtown Minneapolis on June 24, delaying the start of the Twin Cities Pride Parade by almost two hours. The impassioned demonstrators called from the removal of police presence from Pride events, as well as justice for Thurman J. Blevins, a 31-year-old man who had been shot and killed by police in north Minneapolis the night before. Reactions from the crowd ranged from passive silence, to signs of solidarity, to booing.
