Protestors occupied Hennepin Avenue in downtown Minneapolis on June 24, delaying the start of the Twin Cities Pride Parade by almost two hours. The impassioned demonstrators called from the removal of police presence from Pride events, as well as justice for Thurman J. Blevins, a 31-year-old man who had been shot and killed by police in north Minneapolis the night before. Reactions from the crowd ranged from passive silence, to signs of solidarity, to booing.
